Diving the MV Malabar

The MV Malabar was on it's way from Melbourne to Singapore on 2 April 1931 when it came into a heavy fog. The captain gave orders to change the course 5 degrees to starboard. The helmsman misunderstood and changed it 5 degrees to port. The MV Malabar got stuck on the headland south of Sydney at Long Bay not long after the helmsman made the mistake. 62 members of the crew and all passengers on board were evacuated with the lifeboats. There were some attempts to get the Malabar free from the rocks, but nothing helped. The officers were evacuated too and the only one who died was the cat that lived on the ship, because it refused to leave when people were evacuated.
