Unimaginably blue

Thailand is a wonderful country with lots of excellent dive sites. On Thailands west coast you'll find the Andaman Sea and on its east coast the Gulf of Thailand. The best dive sites are to be found on the west side of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Both in the south and further up north near the Similan islands are excellent dive sites.

The best time to visit Thailand, and especially the west coast, is from October to April. Very heavy rainfall hits the west coast in May and these rainstorms can continue until September. If you would like to visit Thailand from May to September, the best option is to go to the east coast and make some dives in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Tao is the place to be for scuba diving in the Gulf. The average water temperature in Thailand is around 28ºC all year round. The water is extremely blue very, clear and the visibility is very good.

Some examples of really good diving spots in Thailand are:

HMTS Khram

This formal navy ship has been scuttled near Koh Phi and Koh Larn off the Pattaya coast for scuba diving purposes. The top of the wreck lies on a depth of 15 meter and the bottoms sits on the see floor in around 30 meters of water. Because of the large number of holes in the sides of the ship it's pretty easy to penetrate the ship. You can always find a way out once inside the ship, but you have to be careful. A few rooms still have the big steel watertight doors in place and they may be locked easily.
Th bridge is located at the highest point if the ship in around 15 meters of water and you can swim through it. Most of the equipment has been removed.
This ship was built to carry tanks and troops, so the centre of the deck is one flat area with built up sides.
