When you think of Egypt you'll probably think of heaps of history, the river Nile, pharaohs and pyramids and red hot desert dunes. There's more to Egypt than you probably think, because it's the place to be for scuba diving in the Red Sea.
The Red Sea is located on Egypt's east coast and there are hundreds of dive sites in the Red Sea. The best known places to go to for scuba diving are Sharm El Sheik and Hurghada. These cities have many dive centres and dive shops.
The gorgeous blue water and coral reef 'mountains' that grow up from the sea floor like natural architectural wonders is what makes scuba diving in Egypt special. There are also animal species that you will only sea in the Red Sea like the Red Sea coral cod and the Red Sea anemonefish. Some of the other animals you might swim into are whale sharks, manta rays, scalloped hammerhead sharks, moray eels, triggerfish, all kinds of parrotfish, lionfish, all kinds of butterflyfish and many, many more that make scuba diving in the Red Sea so very special.
