Great diving in the south west

Albany is located on the shores of King George Sound and has some very good dive sites. One of the major attractions of the town is the whaling museum, but also diving the HMAS Perth is very popular. Another nice shipwreck to do some scuba diving on is the Cheynes III
There are some good shore dives to enjoy, but also a great place to do a boat dive is just a couple of minutes away. The seas are usually calm during autumn so that's a good time of year to go scuba diving in Albany.

Enjoying your company

That's what the resident seals of Seal Cove do. When these underwater acrobats are in the mood they love to play with visiting divers. There's also a large rock overhanging in the corner of the cove. When the conditions are good it's a very nice place to have a look, but you do need a flashlight. You'll find some beautiful Gorgonian fans and other corals. If you look closely you'll even see a weedy sea dragon among the kelp.

Michaelmas Reef

Near Michaelmas Island are a couple of good dive spots. Approximately 1 km west from this island is Michaelmas Reef. This is a limestone reef with kelp covering most of the tops of the reef. This site is popular with underwater photographers because its not a very deep site. There is heaps of marine life to be found on this site from sponges, anemones and gorgonian fans to beautiful reef fish and invertebrates.
