Unspoilt and beautiful

Gove Peninsula
Gove Peninsula

It's a long drive through Arnhem Land, but it's well worth it. Luckily it's also possible to fly to Nhulunbuy. The waters and bays around the Gove Peninsula offer some fantastic scuba dive sites. The pristine waters of the Arafura Sea have a nice temperature of 28ºC to 32ºC al year round so you only need a light tropical or lycra suit to dive here. This area has some fantastic coral reefs with an abundance of marine life.

Bremer Island

Just off the coast of the Gove Peninsula lies Bremer Island. There are quite some interesting dive sites to be found around this island with lots of coral reefs filled with gorgonians, soft corals, hard corals and sponges. There are some caves can be found in the walls around the reefs that can drop to around 40 meters in depth. You're likely to find turtles swimming around, lots of rays like Manta rays and eagle rays and any more other species of fish.

Bonner Rocks

The waters around Bonner Rocks are the home to many beautiful tropical fish like angelfish, sweetlips, gold-banded butterflyfish, some species of coralfish, parrotfish and anemonefish. There are also many species of wrasse to be found like bird-nose wrasse, reindeer wrasse, exquisite wrasse and many more. The coral reef is found on a depth of around 10 to 24 meters.
